Welcome to The Swinnerton Family Society
The Swinnerton family originated in Staffordshire, and has been comprehensively traced back to the Domesday Survey. The Swinnerton Family Society is continuing the on-going study of the family, and this website shows some of the material that has been amassed to date.
The Society holds a comprehensive collection of genealogical material tracing the family name back for over 900 years. We also have a large collection of books written by Swinnerton authors, in addition to many other documents and artefacts in connection with the Swinnerton name. Please see our Notable Swinnertons page, our People page, and our Pottery Museum page for more details of these.
The Society publishes a magazine, The Swinnerton Saga, which is available to members as part of their subscription.

The Swinnerton Family Society
The Society was founded in 1974 succeeding a loose correspondence group assembled by the Revd. Charles Swynnerton in the mid-1880s, which died out with his death in 1923.
The objects of the Society are:
- To research and record the history of the Swinnerton Family.
- To establish links with members of the world-wide Swinnerton Family to promote a sense of kinship and to encourage them to study their own family history and contribute it to the history of the whole family.
- To publish a magazine – The Swinnerton Saga – to record that history.
- To preserve those records together with associated objects and ephemera.
- To assist, where possible, in the welfare of St. Mary’s Church, Swynnerton.
