The Swinnerton Saga has been going in one form or another since our founder, my father Colonel Iain Swinnerton, sent out his first Journal, a double-sided A4 sheet, in 1974. Dad handed over the editorship to me nine years ago, but due to health issues, I will be calling it a day at the end of the year, after the Winter 2025 edition. So, we are currently looking for a new editor for the magazine. It is only a 24 page A5 booklet, but of course there have been a lot of articles over the last 50 years, so much of the time taken to compile the magazine is spent checking a story hasn’t already been published, as well as fact checking the genealogy. Anyone who takes this on will have access to all our digital archives, however, which includes searchable PDFs of the Sagas/Journals going back to the beginning. They will also have access to our researchers of course, in case of any genealogical questions, and use of our subscriptions to Ancestry and Find My Past.
It is of course an unpaid position, although we can offer free membership of the Swinnerton Society!
We look forward to hearing from you!
Best wishes,
Alastair Swinnerton
